Wow, so much got flipped upside down in this one and I love where Brent Weeks has gone with the story. I can't wait for the next book which should be out in a few months hopefully (early 2019)

Not bad by any means, but WTF was that ending. These books are super inconsistent, which is a good thing at times. This book had some mediocre reveals for sure, and a few of them seemed unnecessary; however, some of them were very well executed and played off assumptions the reader held since the first book.

My biggest complaint is that this book suffers from feeling a bit stagnant. We don't move THAT far forward. Its clearly setting up for the final book, and suffers from "middle book syndrome," even though it's book 4. Maybe a more accurate term is "penultimate book syndrome."

Regardless, I think this book is fine, and Weeks has vastly improved since books 1 and 2.

No seriously, what the fuck was that ending though?

2023 Review - 4 stars
- Really enjoy this book in the series!
- There is so much going on in this book! Characters are spread everywhere throughout the Chromeria, and there are a lot of POV's that we are following. It can be a bit overwhelming at times trying to keep track of everything, but it's so good and worth it
- Gavin's arc in this book is particularly interesting, especially with him being in the prisons that he created. It added such an interesting twist to the story (and really just made me hate Andross all the more lol)
- Honestly, I think Teia's arc is my favorite in the series. She goes through so much, and changes so much, and I honestly just want to give her a big hug.
- Seeing Kip and Teisis in this book together is honestly a bit weird at first, but it's also really sweet watching them learn to love, trust, and work together with each other.
- The Mighty are just amazing. I love them. Nothing else to say
- This is another action-packed book with loads of twists and turns! Pretty much all the characters evolve greatly in this book, and it is honestly just such an enjoyable read!

My favorite book of the series so far! It was so good!!! Non-stop action from page one, right until the very end of the book and I never wanted to put the book down. The plot-twists that Brent Weeks put into this book were his best and most surprising yet, I was definitely freaking out at quite a few different points haha. The characters are all evolving so much and there are so many different plot points that are going on right now that I am incredibly excited to see how Brent Weeks brings everything together.

Absolutely brilliant. Brent Weeks doesn't fail, yet again, and you can feel the story starting to really come together. I look forward to the next book, anything Brent writes, as well as anything he recommends.
