I had a lot of hope for this book since I heard so many good things about it, but then it just kind of fell flat to me. I was really invest in the very beginning and the very end of the book. But the middle really felt like it dragged on. I did enjoy all of the characters throughout the story and all of the side plots that happened to pop up. I also really enjoyed the writing style of being in first and in third person. The switching back and forth of the perspectives was interesting to me. There was a decent amount of profanity in it, which I felt was kind of useless especially since it is YA and there were some topics that could be triggering to some if you don’t know they are in there. If your teen is the one reading this book, I would recommend reading it before hand as there is talk about drugs, drinking, etc. Overall, it was a nice book, but it doesn’t have me necessarily reaching for another Holly Jackson book.

Pip and Ravi....😭🫶🙏

I was so sad when the dog was dead, I almost cried. Poor Barney😭, and then Pip calling his name 🥲

And I think Emma and Zain are going to be perfect for their roles

I feel like this has become a classic in the arena of new YA and I'm glad that I finally got around to it. Obviously the YA genres limits, to an extent, the content that can be included, but I did find myself quickly drawn into the mystery and the attempt to solve it. There's some classic dumb brave teenager behavior that had me rolling my eyes, but I did enjoy myself and look forward to reading the subsequent books in the series.

ohmagawd. THE LAYERS OF THIS STORY??? DAMNNN I WAS INVESTED. so many intricate characters omg you can tell that holly jackson absolutely gave her all to this book.

Okay, so, I’m a bit torn. Cause the story was very good, but some of the things Pip did were kind stupid ngl. 

Like going to Becca’s house when she knows Becca is a murderer! What the heck Pip?? You don’t take drinks from a murderess !

Otherwise good plot. Well worked out.
