I enjoyed this story. There were a lot of events in this book that didn’t sit right but with the MMC character being a psychopath with machiavellian traits (as well as other dark traits), those events shouldn’t have. Was there SA, manipulation, and down right disturbing conversations? Yes, and those were hard to read.

I think how the author wrote from both POV’s was what kept me reading and invested. I love reading POV’s from any characters with psychopathy so that was definitely in this books favor. I enjoyed the writing style and as well as the banter between the two MC’s. The side characters added to the story. I’m looking forward to reading about the other characters in this story.

Dual 1st person POV

Tropes and Triggers:

grumpy x sunshine
psychopath x good girl
extremely possessive & jealous mmc choking
degradation
SA, r*pe
Off page suicide

I have officially entered my Rina Kent Era.

This is my first read from Rina, and I don't know about other readers, but I occasionally come across an author that I just know is going to hit before even reading their work. This is one of those instances.

I think I put off diving in for so long because I was intimidated by the depth of her backlist. I'm not a stickler on series reading order, which is why I decided to just dive into this without any knowledge of the world she'd spent several other series building up. Now that I've read it, I absolutely want to go back and start at square one!

There's nothing quite like a villainous hero who hates everyone but his love..it just hits every time! Add an inexperience heroine who finds her strength once the hero helps her see her full potential, and top tier writing--you've got a dark romance banger. Can't wait to get lost in Rina's mafia world!

This was good.. but I think I have read better tbh. Don't know if I'd re-read this because there are other stories I enjoy more.
