This book was so good. I enjoyed Marcellus. The way grief was talked about was tender and real.

Loved the ending! I’m all for a found family. The twist on what the actual titles about was nice! Marcellus, you just could see everything while all the humans got lost in the forest with all the trees. Happy Cam got himself together and found a family he always wanted and needed and Tova got the ending she deserved! Will definitely recommend to others who want a feel good story.

This is such a beautiful story, that I’m going to cherish for a very long time. As an animal lover, it gave me an even deeper appreciation and understanding for octopuses. I smiled, pondered, laughed, and cried in turns throughout this book. It balanced exploring serious subjects, such as grief and abandonment, with celebrating life—both human and animal—and love in its many forms—familial, platonic, and romantic.

The reflections that I came away with will stay with me for some time. I can already see myself revisiting this beautiful story later in life, as its message is timeless. Respect all life forms, embrace love, and hug your loved ones tight while you can.

4.5/5 ⭐️ First off I want to say that I now want an octopus friend 🐙 second this book was incredibly beautiful. I felt like the author did a wonderful job of showing the imperfections of people while also giving a silver lining throughout the book. I think the idea of showing off different perspectives even from unlikely characters 🐙 was something that really added to how everything came together in the end. Did I think this book was perfect, no (Cameron’s character has some serious growing up to do), but did I enjoy it deeply, yes! This book had me coming back excited and curious to see what was going on in the lives of these characters.

What a beautiful book. The narration was excellent, and it worked so well having a different narrator for the exceptional Marcellus. Speaking of, he was my favourite character and I loved any chapter with him!

The older characters especially were terrific. But all the characters were so fully realised and relatable. There was an understanding that not everyone is perfect, and we all make decisions that we think are for the best at the time. It's ok to change your mind though! Mistakes are part of nature.

Just a very good book, and the audiobook worked well - I looked forward to listening. There are sad bits, but I was also laughing quite a lot. Would recommend.
