This is book I listened to on my sister's audible account. I love listening on her account because she picks books I would never read or listen to myself. This is one of those books. A serial killer's daughter, is she good or is she bad? How far does the apple fall from the tree. I found myself intrigued by the concept of good vs bad and how much do we really learn and/or inherit from our parents. I found Millie's life incredibly sad, and Phoebe incredibly mean.

This book was SO suspenseful, but be warned - it's very dark. Darker and more difficult to read than your average psychological thriller. It's not gory or anything, but it's just disturbing.

The novel tells the story of Annie, a teenage girl placed in a new foster family after turning her mother, a notorious serial killer, into the police.

The book is told from Milly’s perspective ( Annie’s new identity), as she struggles to come to terms with her traumatic past and uncertain future. She is constantly haunted by the memories of her mother’s crimes and fears that she might have inherited her mother’s violent tendencies. As she tries to adjust to her new life and navigate the challenges of being a teenager, Milly finds herself torn between the desire to fit in with her new family and the fear of being like her mother.

Good Me Bad Me is a masterful exploration of trauma and how it can shape a person’s identity and behaviour. Land’s prose is hauntingly beautiful, with vivid descriptions that transport the reader into Annie’s world, and a narrative structure that keeps the reader guessing until the end.

The novel is gripping and suspenseful, with a fast-paced plot that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. The characters are well-developed, particularly Milly, whose complex and conflicted personality is the heart of the story. The book also explores themes of nature vs. nurture, the impact of trauma on mental health, and the role of family and community in shaping a person’s identity.

“Good Me Bad Me” is a well-written and thought-provoking novel that is sure to keep readers engaged until the very end. Ali Land’s debut novel showcases her talent for crafting a compelling and nuanced story that delves into the dark and complex workings of the human psyche. If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers or just looking for a good book to sink your teeth into, it is definitely worth checking out.

This is Ali Land's debut and she has certainly came and made her mark in the Psychological Thriller genre.
And a really clever unique spin on the Serial Killer fiction books I have read before. Such an easy book to read, the story flows threw the pages sweeping you along for the ride. I couldn't put the book down so i finished it in less than 36 hours!
The book is about a female serial killers daughter Annie and that it was Annie that turned her mother over to the police.
Annie is now Milly, with a new life and new home. No one knows the truth about who Milly really is but who knows how long a secret like that can stay buried?
Especially as she will have to stand up and give evidence against her own mother!
But the question is "Is she Milly, the new girl with a fresh start? Or is she Annie, the serial killers daughter?
What side wins? Good me or Bad me?
Brilliant book, I have recommended it to anyone and everyone I know who loves to read and even purchased the book as a present for a friend.
Cant wait to see what Ali's next book will be like.

Not sure how I feel about this. Kept me interested, but deeply disturbing. Ending not what I was hoping for, tragic and troubling. This one will stay with me for awhile.

Je crois que c'est un premier roman et j'ai beaucoup aimé.
Je ne m'attendais pas du tout à ce dénouement en tous cas.
