An odd, haunting book. Absolutely beautifully written.

Fun little book; loved the setting and had some great imagery. Very intriguing and very memorable!

I think I had the wrong expectations for this book? It was less mysterious and whimsical than I thought, and more of a sad, realistic story of child grief. The writing was simple and beautiful, and the passages describing the scenery were sublime. I think the rating somewhat reflects my disappointment in expectation, and some of it just because it was little plot and mostly vibes, which I'm not always in the mood for.

2.5/5
While I found many passages teeming with beautiful and austere prose, the story itself never truly seized me. The meeting of the two main girls, Siss and Unn, was a strange event that failed to convince me of the unlikely friendship that was born from it. The adults and children all spoke with a frankness that didn’t fit with their age or relation.

It was beautiful, true, but unbelievable in a way that a dream is upon waking.

Glad to have read it, but would not readily recommend.
