some of the pacing (especially by the end) was off but the atmosphere, mystery, and writing were all tremendously done! the best agatha christie book i could've started with

Another book I read back in middle school and as someone whose favorite movie is Clue I absolutely loved this reread

Paced just right to bring a tense "who's gonna die next" without being overbored with way too much filler

I will say somehow Vera was my favorite character and I was surprised for her to be the last one to die which in a way is a win cuz she lasted so long but she died either way so a lose?

I will also say that
it was slightly annoying that it wasn't easy to tell Wargrave faked his death, I was really trying to figure it out until I got to the end

This is a pretty well perfect mystery—except for the horrendous racism that even the publisher’s careful edits can’t hide. Yikes. A classic, but a deeply problematic one.

This was just wow, I'm at a loss for words.
This truly deserves the title of a masterpiece because that is exactly what it is. Agatha Christie is a genius for writing this.
I wish I could the read this again without knowing the ending, because this was truly brilliant and I enjoyed every second of, constantly trying to figure out this mystery myself.
Though I did have my suspicions in the end, I still wasn't sure as to who had committed all those murders and how.
This was my first Agatha Christie but it will definitely not be my last.

In conclusion, everyone should read this, it is brilliant and I loved it.
5/5 stars for sure, I would say 6/5 if I could

Edit: I have recently found out about the racist history/origin of this book and its original content. I stand by what I said, but if I had read the original version with the heavily racist content, I would 100% not have given the review I have given. I am however glad that they did make these changes and edited/deleted all of the blatant racist comments and terminologies (the book still contains racist remarks of several characters tho), because I do believe the story is great and suspenseful and definitely worth a read. Just, to anyone reading this, make sure you by an edited version of this.
