Really enjoyed the novel. I found the ending predictable, but still very well written. I like when I can figure out a book but it still has enough twists to make me think I could be wrong. HATED the prosecuting attorney, and wanted to reach in the book and put a sock in his mouth. Overall, great read - would recommend.

Holy cow, I did not see the ending coming! Legal theme, family, who did it! Once I finally started the book, I had a hard time putting it down.

I think this was a gr8 piece of work by william landay. I am a regular reader of the crime genre and this book was one of the best. It takes a look at the family affected by a case on their son of the murder of his classmate. As the case continues , new secrets are revealed about Jacob and his innocency is called into question. Read this for an emotional and a thrilling novel which delivers everything it promises.

I'd really give it 3.5 stars. I more than just liked it, but not sure I "really liked it"; however I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt for this review, since I listened on audio book. It may have lost something in the translation to audio because I was confused at times about how the story was going back and forth in time, which I think may have been clearer in print. The reader was very good though.

The story kept me interested, though and at times I had to force myself to stop listening so I could go to bed or get things done. There's a lot of ambiguity and questionable things that happened and I will be interested in the discussion at my book group next week.

I would recommend if you like a good story and interesting and flawed characters, but I wouldn't recommend if you want everything tied up with a nice neat bow at the end.
