I'm sort of haphazardly making my way through the Discworld books, and I don't think this one should've been my second. It wasn't as compelling as the Night Watch, and I didn't find myself that interested in the result of the political conflict or the murder mystery. I think I'll try the ones at the top of the "Best of Discworld" list first.

I am always a little disappointed with the watch novels. This is a bit of a new low though. The whole gmodding by Vimes is just... Silly.

I am also usually struck by how the watch novels usually have a more smug attitude. They seem more snooty than funny.
