"Oh! I am delighted with the book! I should like to spend my whole life in reading it."
Book #6 in my small project to read all of Jane Austen's books in 2019, and I absolutely loved it! I think that now it might be my favourite book by her, together with Pride and Prejudice, closely followed by Persuasion.
I know that it was supposed to be a satire on gothic fiction, but I genuinely enjoyed all the "gothic" parts and loved the humour in this book. Catherine may not be the perfect heroine but she grew throughout the book and I personally really liked her. I'm really happy that I decided to read all of Jane Austen's books this year, and that I discovered a new favourite in Northanger Abbey :)
My short reviews of all books:
Persuasion, Emma, Mansfield Park, Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Northanger Abbey.

This book is just... I cant even express my feelings but I will attempt to. Although it doesn’t surpass Pride and Prejudice, I think this may very well be my second favorite Jane Austen novel. It is one of her novels that contains the most romance and the interactions with Henry and Catherine were divine. They discuss literature, storytelling, politics, society and even gender roles! It truly feels like a book ahead of it time. It is also interesting to see all that occurs in the book from the perspective of Catherine, who is a very naive girl that has not been taught much about society and how people may not have your best intentions at heart.
Oh! Can we talk about the subtle themes of heroines and heroes tales throughout the book! It made me so happy to see Catherine sometimes referred to as “our heroine”.
It is a feel good book and if you are in a bad or sad mood, this is the one for you.
