A fun story, and definitely another good adaptation (I'm loving these drama adaptations of books!) but the plot wasn't particularly deep. Still a lot of fun.

To be perfectly honest, I didnt really know what to expect when I started reading Around the World in Eighty Days. I can appreciate that during the time this book was written it was an impressive read but I did have to force myself to finish it. Passpartout, Phileas Foggs assistant, did get on my nerves a bit as he was quite ridiculous. I was impressed however with the ending regarding the time zones. Something I would have completely overlooked.

This was a fun book! I listened to Jim Dale reading it, which may have helped me enjoy it more. Verne was definitely a product of his time, and his attitudes toward different cultures were often not acceptable by today's standards. This annoyed me somewhat, and I didn't like his seeming insistence that everything English was good and everything else was inferior. However, the story itself was exciting, entertaining, and often funny. I will definitely read more Verne!

Het was een leuk boek, maar soms kostte het 3 bladzijdes om iets uit te leggen of te beschrijven om vervolgens het kort af te kappen. De voor mijn gevoel niet belangrijke stukken werden uitgebreid verteld, maar de stukjes, zoals het redden van miss aouda, of het gevecht in de trein waren kort. Verder vond ik dit wel een stuk beter boek dan 'De Archipel staat in brand' van hem.
