Now that's the fastest book I've ever read!

Set right after the events of Winter (Book 4), the crew of the Campion are reunited once again in times of peril with the rise of the now abandoned and command-less Lunar Wolves once deployed by the tyrannical Queen Levana during her reign to conquer Earth. Their current uprising threatens the fresh position of the newly reigned queen of Luna, Selene Blackburn or fondly known as Linh Cinder. This graphic novel with its creative art by Doug Holgate features Iko, Cinder's trusted android servant turned friend and ally during the revolution. Now as the protagonist, this book tackles Iko's internal struggle of alienation from her human friends and accepting the eccentricities and prejudice she receives in both Earthen and Lunar society as an android.

I like how this book let us explored the potential chemistry between Iko and Cinder's trusted royal guard, Liam Kinney, that was briefly explored in the last few pages of Winter after the revolution. And the premise answered a huge plot hole left by Winter on how to deal with the abandoned Lunar Wolves on Earth. At first I felt the art was a bit bland but I realised this is essential for how the action scenes were intricately depicted. Doug's art is splendid for this action-packed sequel of the Lunar Chronicles!

For those wanting to get more of the Lunar Chronicles, this sequel is worth grabbing and a super-duper easy read due to the ease of imagination brought by the story-telling medium of graphic novels.

“That's not necessary. I'm doing what any good friend would do, out of loyalty and Lunar patriotism and--"
"I'll buy you a new pair of shoes."
"Sold.”
― Marissa Meyer, Wires and Nerve, Volume 1

I love Iko and the crew so, so much! This was super easy to read and love! The art and characters were beautiful, the settings and speeches/dialogues were great, everything's basically fantastic. I was so happy to dive into the Lunar Chronicles again and I wasn't the least bit disappointed. Wires and Nerve was funny, witty, charming, and full of action! Hands down, a graphic novel to remember. I just absolutely enjoyed it! I can't wait to get my hands on the second volume.

3.5 stars. It was nice to see the characters again, but this was really a necessary story to tell. I didn't get much out of it and it didn't even give me any sort of extra closure of moments of "what happens next" that I cared much about. As always, I love this group, so seeing them again wasn't bad, just not as great as I wanted.

Trigger warnings: violence

The pacing was a little off, and it took a while to find its feet, but it's a sweet story, and a relatively short read, so I'd recommend it to someone with an hour or two to burn.

This was a nice, quick read and pretty entertaining. This was the first graphic novel I've read, and I'm super pleased with it. It's like a continuation of the Lunar Chronicles (except in graphic novel form) and it is surprisingly interesting and I am looking forward to the next installment.
