I received an advance review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you @danielhurstbooks, @inkubatorbooks, and @ZooloosBT for my #giftedbook!

I really enjoyed The Accident by Daniel Hurst and jumped at the chance to read The Intruder. This book did not disappoint! Marie and David seem to have it all (happy marriage, children, a beautiful house, and thriving business until an ex-employee unravels it all.

This book is fast-paced, suspenseful and filled with all the drama that comes from keeping secrets. Full of twists and turns, the pace kept me engaged and longing for more. I thought I had figured it out only to learn there was one final twist! The cast of characters are beautifully written and realistic. I also really like Daniel's writing style, it's perfect for the stories he pens. I highly recommend and will be reading more from this author!

I really hate having to give bad reviews but this book was just not it and it makes me so sad because home invasion/intruder storylines are my favourite in this genre.

The characters were so dull and the first person narration was just painful to read. There was minimal character depth so I just couldn’t care about them at all.

My biggest peeve reading this book is that I couldn’t set the scene at all. I couldn’t even picture the main characters because there were no descriptions! No descriptions of the house or any of the scenes either so it was a very bland read.

Not to mention the plot twists being so predictable.

I almost DNF but I was 30%. Then, I almost DNF'd at least 3 more times. I'm sad I finished and there was no redemption in the ending.

The editing was horrible. I am just shocked at the rating being so high. I wonder if we read the same book. It completely distracted me. William hires someone from the dark web and then wonders to himself if it's safe to use the dark web. I mean this whole book was a shit show of writing.

Tres estrellas.
