Rocked Bayou ARC Review

Couple: Colin and Hayden

Author: Erin Nicholas

Tropes: body guard romance, off limits romance, enemy to lover, forced proximity

Review: WE all love brooding bodyguard romance and this book has it in spades! Hayden and Colin are the best couple and they both have striking differences in their personalities.

Hayden is a poster and on her way to stardom after being found in a NOLA cafe. Colin is the head of a private security and bodyguard firm. He refuses to admit his attraction to Hayden since he feels it is inappropriate.

The main arc in the book is Harden’s stalker who brings out all the protective alpha vibes in Colin. The best parts of this book were Hayden’s sunshine and positive nature even when she was scared to wits. Reading how the author wrote the interactions between her and Colin’s friends and family allowed us to see how amazing she was.

This book is a quicker read and encompasses all the main points in the trope. Be warned that you will laugh out loud though since the wit and banter is top notch. Both characters bring out each others best and they have struggles that tear into them as well.

Enjoy!

Rating: 4.5/10, I want more!

This book was so good! It was a fun story of the most unique couple falling head over heels LITERALLY and then metaphorically.

Colin is very good at reading people and picked up on her desires before she had all of them figured out. That broke them for a few days. When she figured out he was right all along their relationship was able to continue down the path it was meant to follow ❤️❤️

Now the narrators!!

Connor Crais is a genius with accents! His Irish is literal perfection. His English for the Henry character was great by about the middle and he had really stepped into it.

He had to switch between American English, England English and Irish accents at almost the drop of a hat while voicing the four main men in the book and THEN Erin through Bayou accents at him also lol he did so well!

Angelina Rocco is new to me but I love her soft spoken but firm tones. She was great in this role!

Colin and Hayden were definitely my favorite of this series. Colin has the swoony accent, obviously, but also cooks? Yeah, I’m already won over. Overprotective isn’t usually my jam, but when there is actually danger present, I am here for it. I loved how Colin didn’t hold back. Sure, he tried to stay professional for a time, but when he gave that up, he was all in. Hayden was amazing as well. She was protective and caring, while also being sweet and fierce at times. And not just with Colin, but with everyone. I also liked that there was a bit of suspense. It kept me frantically turning pages until the end.

It has been awhile since I read an Erin Nicholas book. I had forgotten how much I enjoy them. Family, friends, crazy hot love. What isn't there to like? I definitely wasn't disappointed in this story. It starts out with a really crazy meet cute. They may have noticed each other once or twice in the past but I'm calling this their meet cute because they were never officially introduced. Hayden has a stalker and even though Henry was the one assigned to her Colin is the man for the job. He can't keep his eyes off her and the chemistry coming off of these two is hot! Hayden isn't afraid to go after what she wants. And she wants Colin. I love how they get to know each other. Not just physically but mentally too. I have to admit, I wouldn't mind these two cooking in my kitchen. I love these two, though I think I love the whole group even more.

*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review*

Oh this book had my emotions in a stranglehold.

Colin is at loose ends after his job guarding a princess of a small country comes to an end. He's looking for a new long term gig.

Hayden is a singer on the rise. Her new found fame has landed her in the sights of a stalker and thus she hires a bodyguard, Colin. Hayden hasn't let fame get to her head. She's honestly the most down to Earth woman.

Hayden's grandpa suffers from Alzheimer's and that just brought back so many memories for me. It was tough to get through those scenes and any scenes dealing with Hayden's feelings on it. I understand deeply what she was going through as I've been there before.

Autre, Louisiana is now on my bucket list!  Between the Landry Men, The O'Grady's and assorted friends there are more than enough hotties for one small town!

Colin has spent his entire career looking after Fiona and Siorcha.  Now that they are in the very grumpy but capable hands of Knox, he's feeling almost like a spare part.  He knows they still love him but they don't need him.  So time to concerntrate on his new security business.  But a late night phone call from a female looking for Henry gets all his protective buttons pushed.

Hayden has always been the invisible glue that held her sporty family together.  She just gets things done and now its time for her.  She's been spotted by a music manager but sadly that comes with a side of stalker!  Cian and Henry have been like brothers to her and she knows she can rely on them to keep her safe.  But Colin?  He has all the signs that he can not only keep her safe but also break her heart!

Colin feels like a dirty old man when he has feelings for Hayden but he's really only 7 years older!  Hayden certainly doesn't think he's taking advantage of her and neither do any of their scheming friends.   I loved the layers to the book as we not only get the romance but also get a hint at the future Royals books and also get to see a lot of the Autre extended Landry clan.

Colin and Hayden both have a need to nurture and protect.  Similarly they both have been taken for granted by their nearest and dearest.  Always there to help out, administer their needs and as the occasion rises bake cookies!

Colin is perfect as the grumpy, protective, possessive, dirty talking hero and Hayden is the shining light of happiness.  Don't let her domestic goddess fool you though - she's a task master and won't be walked over by anyone.

Sweet, supersmexy and snarky.

PS Cian is possibly the biggest toddler in the world LOL
