This is probably one of the most realistic romance books I’ve read. It portrayed how relationships can be difficult and messy. Connie and Huxley frustrated me at times but I enjoyed their character development and the tension between them. It showed the reality of PTSD and grief which added depth to the story. I recommend this book.

Naomi Loud is the queen of tension.
On the line was one of my top 3 favorite books of last year. And I am so glad I can say the same about Play The Part!! Huxley and Connie had me hooked from the start.
Recently out of prison and trying to get adjusted when Huxley sees Connie at Ozzy & James engagement party it’s heated from the start! Hux falls hard & fast. This had amazing tension, a trust fund baby meets ex con with mommy issues. The praise kink, the therapy rep, both characters grew a lot in this book and I really fell in love with them. The amount of times I was yelling in my head for them to just communicate.
Highly recommend. Naomi makes me love her characters so easily!
Thank you Naomi for the ARC!! I’m a forever fan!

Listen. These two are messyyyyy. If you’re looking for drama and angst and banter, this is the book for you. However, be warned there is other woman drama AND other man drama. Like I said, ✨messy✨
At a little over 300 pages, this is a quick read that is hard to put down. The mental health representation in this is incredible, but that’s something I’ve come to expect from Naomi’s writing.
Highlights:
- Romance: MF
- One night stand to coworkers to lovers
- Grumpy x sunshine
- Hollywood starlet x ex-con
- “Good boy”

i loved the messiness of the relationship between huxley and connie. loved the drama as well, i was definitely eating it up. also, that bathroom scene was SOOO hot (iykyk)
there was quite a bit of miscommunication between hux and connie, but since it was because of both of their trauma response i guess it was okay for me. with that being said, i loved seeing both of their character grow and find peace. loved the epilogue!!

Another angsty novel from Naomi!
“My stomach twists as i think of Connie. And i can’t help but wonder if she’s looking at the same moon tonight.”
**possible spoilers ahead**
In On The Line we learned how thing heat up for James and her line cook, Ozzy. Now in Play The Part, it his brother’s turn.
Huxley is the angsty, blue haired, chain smoking, ex-con, construction worker of all of our dreams. I was infatuated within the first two chapters. (i mean he has a tongue ring damn it.)
Connie is just insufferable enough that it keeps their edgy/toxic beginnings delectable. (Trust me i love her) She stumbles in (or out) with her designer blouses, shower dildo and accidental nudes (such a tease) and we are taken on a rollercoaster of drunken make outs in the theatre and a hand sliding up an inner thigh at the family dinner table.
Overall, I enjoyed it. It was a quick read for a couple hour commute and i was giggling and kicking my feet the whole way through. The ending was cute, a little sappy, but hey isn’t that what this is all about.

I devoured this book in one sitting!
Play the Part was so good, with a messy relationship so entertaining you won't be able to put the book down, top-tier spice, and all that wrapped up in beautifully written moments that will make you tear up.
Another amazing read from one of my favourite authors!
Oh, and also, I don't know if it's in the cards yet, but I'm dying for a Sophia book now!! Fingers crossed we get a third book in this series.
Thank you Naomi for the ARC!

“Is this real?” she asks quietly.
Taking her hands in my mine, I kiss her fingers. “So fucking real.” 🥺
Connie and Huxley are my number one! Even though there is some heavy things going in this story Noami alwayssss tugs on your heartstrings! The growth between these two characters was so good to read. I loved their chemistry, banter and they were so good together! 10/10 recommend!

Knowing how much I loved and absolutely devoured On The Line, I was so so so excited to get this and when I did I couldn't put it down. Like truly, I haven't been this locked into a book in a while and this one had me SAT! Naomi has such an incredible way of capturing my attention and keeping me on pins and needles, through the banter and tension (which is absolutely top tier btw) and messiness. Every last bit had turning page after page into the wee hours of the night.
Hux and Connie were messy to say the least but through it all they found their way...even when I was screaming at my kindle. Communication does not exist for these two. At least it didn't for a time. Watching them grow and heal and come together had my heart singing. Naomi warned us this relationship was messy and she meant it with her full chest. And god do I want more. The sweetness, the spiciness, the mess. All of it.
Marsford Bay has been on my mind since I turned the last page. Just add this book to the never ending list of reasons of why I will forever be a fan of Naomi and her writing.
