The book was a bit of a mixed bag for me. I quite enjoyed the first part when the focus was on the character's childhood. I appreciated the narrative tone and the slightly humorous undertone, and I also liked the more reflective segments.

Once we moved on to the narrator/author's adult life, I have to admit it lost me. I think the narration became a bit too much confused and fragmented.
I wasn't connecting much with the narrator anymore and I found his relationships with other characters a bit too surface level. There were some parts that I still liked (some reflections on the themes of memory
and the hints to the social/political context) but, overall, I wasn't as keen as in the beginning.
