I was so excited for the Spindle Cove series and I adore Tessa Dare so I went into this with high hopes. Unfortunately, the male main character and the rest of his brood of men are so misogynistic and hyped up on toxic masculinity in a way that made it impossible to read. Maybe I’ll come back to spindle cove one day but this book is not it for me.

This romance didn’t blow me away—Bram is more of an alpha-type hero than I prefer, and I didn’t like all of the ways he talked down to Susanna, or the times he continued to have sex with her with dubious consent. I love the idea of Spindle Cove though, and the plotline about the evils of bloodletting was interesting.
