Adorable. An easy read, but still intelligent and funny. I loved the tone of this book, it reminds me of Cimorene's adventures with dragons that were not what she expected. Creel is quick and smart and doesn't just shoot around and wail when bad things happen.

This is the best series I have read in my life - so far - which is 10 years.

if the pretty person is nice and the disabled person is evil, is it still a subversion because the main character comes at it from an anti-oppressive model initially? or was it not an anti-oppressive model & rather some girlo competition <> charity model of disability LOL

the class politics of this book are wild. didn't expect that on rereading it.

big thoughts about to what extent minoritized characters are multi-dimensional here. 🤔

Felt kinda flat but it was entertaining. The protag was kinda getting on my nerves at the end

I really enjoyed the world, dragons, and setting most. The characters and plot were good, but I feel like some aspects of them could have been better.

This is my favorite childhood book! I loved the cool dragons and exciting plot as a little kid, and since then I've gone back and reread it and come to appreciate it in a different way- the themes of forced change, self discovery, and forming new friendships in overwhelming new places speak to me more now. I love this book :)
