Play The Game by J. Bree

This series is laced with drugs and I am officially 🎶addicted🎶 to this story. I do NOT need rehab. I’m exactly where I want to be. Go on without me.

Are the plot holes still present? Yes, yes they are. Could they mostly be fixed with a simple age up? Also yes!

That said, things are improving a little since the characters age up a year with each book. It doesn’t erase the fact that the “origin story” is too young to be believable, but at least it helps smooth the edges a bit.

I am in love with these characters and want to bask in this world for as long as possible, yet I'm tearing through these pages with the speed of a thousand Red Bulls. I need more of these side characters, and I will not be happy until I consume every scrap of content in this universe.

I already ordered the omnibus to sit proudly on my physical trophy shelf of favorites, because this is absolutely one of them. This book is crack. Parts are undeniably flawed, but I am so obsessed. Dear lord, I need help.

Don’t help me... I want to be here.

WOWOWOW THE STORY IN THIS ONE REALLY PICKED UP OMG.

So many moving parts to the series between the gang business, the evil parental figures, the mysterious boxes Lips keeps getting

No one messes with family

If I thought year one and year two were packed, year three takes the cake! This year, the family isn’t taking guff from anyone. They are ready and willing to face any challenge that comes their way including fellow students, parents, teachers, and the bay’s underlings.
I couldn’t put this down. With the relationship between Lip and the boys solidified, we see them grow more in their roles with each other. We find new enemies and allies in unlikely places and there is some pretty good revenge taking place.
I definitely had some gasp moments that had my heart pounding and some moments that absolutely made my heart melt.
There is a mysterious person in our story now and it is yet to be seen whether they are friend or foe. And if nothing else, that ending had me definitely losing it!
Time for year four!

2.75. God this one was a bit much. Way too OTT for my liking. Still pushed through and the ending is enough for me to see where it goes.

I’m addicted to this series. My only gripe is still the age of the characters. I have no idea why they’re so young, but in my mind I’ve aged all of them up.
