The world building of Mr. Lewis was quite extensive. I obviously was intrigued by the books by Disney’s Narnia. With the start of series from the Magician’s Nephew till the end of the series was such a beautiful strung story with Asland, magical creatures, and more. The magic throughout feeling quite real to a young girl.

I know this is considered one of those timeless classics that everyone should read, but I honestly didn’t understand the hype. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe as well as Voyage of the Dawn Treader were pretty good reads, but all the others grew worse and worse as time went on until they were virtually unreadable. I can’t help but feel that The Horse and His Boy and The Last Battle were incredibly insensitive, religiously intolerant, racist, and dogmatic to a degree that reading them became a chore, the latter of which was devoid of any plot. Also the last book made Susan an orphan and implied the best possible thing to happen would be for your entire family to die in a train accident so you could go to heaven? I still think maybe two stars was too generous.

I re-read this series as part of numerous books I read for lent this year. As a collection of 7 books it has exciting moments and moments that were more blah. While I am glad I read all of Narnia I will say by the end it felt very long and I had to push myself to get through it.
