Jasmine's sister Blossom is a zombie, thanks to a bad dose of nuclear radiation, but that's OK: her family still loves her. They move to Connecticut and attend public high school, with Blossom taking shop class and doing history presentations. Soon after they move to town they get involved in a mystery - people are turning up dead with missing brains, and all signs point to Blossom, but Jasmine is determined to prove her sister's innocence. Although nominally this is a zombie book it's very fun, lighthearted, and light on the gore as zombie novels go. It's solid YA (possibly even MG?) with the sisters not only trying to solve a mystery but also navigate young romances. The book uses zombie-ism as a metaphor for disability, and looks at prejudice and equal access to educational resources through this lens. It's a really fun & inventive way to look at how we treat people who are differently abled. Great book for younger readers!
