This was pretty much a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan fiction. I had a hard time keeping interested to be honest. And I passed up reading the next one in the series - even when I could have for free.

Kate Connor was a demon hunter until she became a stay-at-home mum. But the sudden appearance of a demon assassin brings her out of retirement.
This book was more interested in the adventures of a mother looking after a social climbing husband while bringing up the demanding kids, than a demon hunter. I'm really not interested in books about the weekly shopping and dinner parties and the woes of a busy mother. These paranormal humour ones about mothers have been boring and not particularly amusing so I'll be avoiding them in the future!

I like these Demon books as they are light reading and a lot of fun. While parts of her demon hunting can be a little heavy and scary most of the book is funny. Not dark and evil at all.

Ok, so let me start off by saying I'm not 100% sure how I got this book on my Nook. I know I downloaded a sample because it was billed as if Buffy grew up and had kids, but I'm not sure when that turned from a sample into a full novel.
And that's the type of book this is. One you have to make apologies for.
Honestly, the idea here and the world it's creating is interesting. I also like the characters in it, though it is drawing heavily from Buffy. However, this novel focuses so much on the mundane moment to moments of being a mom and so briefly on an action that I got board almost halfway through and just gave up.
I'm writing a review because if they made a Carpe Demon TV series, I would watch it. I feel like there's an excellent world for a tv series in there. I just need to know more about the fight with the demon in the first chapter and less about the rigatoni she's cooking for a dinner party

Soccer mom, demon hunter, completely predictable. No more, thanks.

Ok, while I really enjoyed the story line and the cast of characters I didn't enjoy how jumbled the writing seemed at certain points when the main character was multitasking. It was very easy to loose the thread of what was going on.

This book was FREE on Kindle! Breezy & highly amusing romp. Clues for the bad guy could be seen from Mars but the demon fights were as exciting as advertised. Perfect summer read!
