dark sad tense slow-paced

I absolutely enjoyed this second book in the story of Dave Pelzer. I once again was moved by his strength, resilience and the way he tells his story. Although, the first book did violently tear my heart from my chest this one did not hold quite the same sentiment but I still really gripped the pages on this one as well. I truely believe Dave Pelzer's story is one of importance to share. Brilliant and moving.

I read this book along with 'A Child called It" as a young girl. I remembered being moved by the writing in both books. I think that they may be good books to re-read at some point but I have not had a chance to do so.

Sad knowing that nothing has improved for him

Such a good book! A heart-wrenching look at how the foster care system used to work. I desperately hope that things have improved!

A quick look into an example of what the foster system looked like in the 1970s. Heavy in its contents, it shows the hard working men and women behind the scenes as they work with and help David through the rest of his adolescence.

I don’t like giving personal stories star ratings lol but I liked this one! IYK, obviously very sad what happened to Dave.

An interesting look into the foster care system through the eyes of a foster child. Quick & easy to read too.
