Of the Carrie Fisher books that I’ve read, I don’t think this is her strongest. It’s mostly her going on for way too long about her affair with Harrison Ford with a little bit of complaining about fans/autographs and excerpts from her diary that seem almost too poetic to be real. I think I expected more of her time during the filming of Star Wars than what we got. I recommend her other memoirs, but I don’t think I would recommend this one

i always knew i loved carrie fisher, but this book made me love her more than i thought possible. a totally raw and real examination of her experience as princess leia and a very intimate look into her affair with harrison ford. her diary entries moved me, her poetry hit home, and every once in a while she’d make me cry with her oddly prophetic insights. i will definitely be reading more of her work.

It was neat to read Carrie’s perspective on her time with Star Wars and to see her diary entries. Her poetry was very good and it made me want to read more of her books. An easy and fun read. For someone who says she wasn’t intelligent, her writing says otherwise.

This book is stream of consciousness in the most delightful way, in that it is not a great novel, but merely the gushing out of thoughts of a 19 year old, as remembered by her (40 years older) self. It is an intriguing read for fans of Star Wars, but only those who realise that Carrie Fisher and Princess Leia are two different entities.
