Not sure if it was the author's style or the translation that didn't work for me. The setting was really interesting though! This might have been better as a full novel, especially the ending felt rushed

Good story, good writing style. I never felt like it dragged on. I liked the mix of fantasy with historical fiction.

Engaging but felt underdeveloped and a bit half-baked.

This was such a ME book I adored it. A gothic woman’s asylum in Paris 1800s - and that’s all I’m going to say. This would be an INCREDIBLE autumn read

I was drawn to the cover of this book and the premise sounded interesting. However it was not well executed, did not deliver what was advertised and the story was pretty boring.

I nearly considered giving it 2 stars throughout the middle of the book as the writing was pretty good, despite the boring story and characters. But, unfortunately, the ending made me drop my rating down as it was not that good.

I would have rated this higher if the pacing was slightly better, it was a great start but despite the heavy subject matter I thought the author might have done more to highlight the deplorable actions of the physicians and common medical practice of the time
