Don't trust two dogs.
Left at home alone, the two dachshunds, with very different personalities, find ways to escape and have fun outside. All without the humans suspecting.

Two Dogs is a cute story about two dachsund brothers who turn a boring day into a fun day! What do dogs do when their grown-ups are gone and they are left home alone? They get into mischief is what they do! Both brothers are complete opposites but balance each other out. Augie is reserved and cautious and Perry is wild and fun! We read this book as a family and got some good laughs out of it.

This strange, surrealist picture book features two dachshunds that mostly walk on their hind legs. Why Ian Falconer felt the need to illustrate their sex organs throughout the book is beyond me, and even aside from that, the story and illustrations are weird and experimental in nature. The text begins on the title page, the dogs briefly appear illustrated as busts, and the illustrations are like a mixture between woodcuts and photorealism. I didn't like this, and won't recommend it for children, even though plenty of adults will appreciate this as bizarre modern art.
