Not the best Shakespeare, but definitely not bad by any stretch of imagination. My favourite is the Merchant of Venice, and considering how different the two plays are, I can see why this ranked lower on my Shakespeare scale.

3.5shhh? It was good and I loved the redemption arc at end and it shows that this was Shakespeare last work clearly. It also felt like bits and piece from his other works which I don’t mind but this had less impact on me. The story was less powerful to me than his other works tbh. I still liked it tho but I felt bored sometimes in between and tbh I didn’t care about Prosper much either.

Ariel and the spirits concept was hella cool and I loved Ariel spirit. I also loved the slave Caliban and his dynamics. Overall it was a great story but a bit less impacting and interesting.

The Tempest is unusual in that it doesn’t fall neatly into the categories of tragedy or comedy. Also, it’s not a history, and the main character uses magic to get his revenge upon people who usurped his power and position as the Duke of Milan.

I was attracted to read The Tempest because of some of these quirks that are unique to this particular play. Also, it was probably Shakespeare’s final play and he may or may not have been speaking his farewell through Prospero.

I enjoyed all of the quirks and the main story, but I found the resolution to be rather thin and easy. Everything gets wrapped up too quickly and easily.
