Justice for caliban

Interesting but almost felt unfinished and definitely could’ve benefitted from a few more scenes. Prospero is definitely an interesting character, but aside from Gonzalo and the boatswain he was the only interesting one.

The Tempest is as readable a Shakespeare play as I ever expect to come across. Granted, I've only read a few, but I found this particular play far more consumable than the language of Hamlet or Much Ado. It is simple in terms of character motivations and plot, which makes for a relaxing experience. But while simple, the characters are as individual and unique as ever.

I admire the Bard's ability to wrap me, the reader, into his tightly wound drama. He's the best for a reason I guess. Neither my understanding or sense of immersion were inhibited by the stilted dialogue and renaissance era lexicon. Even after four hundred years, the story flowed like butter. (I did have to reread Prospero's first few monologues, but I had the hang of it afterward.)

A final note on reading Shakespeare: If you are reading his work for enjoyment, and not reading it aloud, what are you doing? You are on stage buddy! Project!

This was a bit of a mess with unfinished plot lines. Definitely not one of Shakespeare's best works imo.

A pleasant read. Has some of Shakespeare's best quotes and quite a fun plot
