I’ve just finished this and I want to read it again. How Sager keeps all these storylines straight is beyond me.

ETA: I did read it again immediately. From July 12-14. The clever writing is so easy to appreciate when you know how it’s going to end. I 100% recommend reading it twice in a row. You’ll be stunned at the breadcrumbs you missed.

Wow… definitely have whiplash from all the twists and turns this took, in the best way! A total page turner I didn’t want to put down! A spooky mansion frozen in time with equally as haunting characters and happenings. Can’t really think of a con worthy of deducting a star so this is my sixth 5-star read of the year. Keep em comin’!

Really enjoyed it ! There were times where I rolled my eyes thinking I’d solved the mystery and was annoyed that it had been so simple but I was always wrong , it always manages to steer you exactly where it wants you. Never a dull paragraph :)

From the beginning of the book, I already knew I wasn’t going to like this. I did not like the author’s writing style at all. This is the only book I’ve read from him, and I’m not sure I’ll be reading more. If I wasn’t reading it for book club, I honestly don’t know if I would’ve finished it.

The plot twists were all over the place, and we didn’t really get any actually useful information until the last few chapters. It felt like it was purposely drawn out just to make the story last a little longer. None of the characters motivations really made sense to me when we found out what happened. Their choices at the end didn’t make sense.

2.5 only because I did want to find out what happened - and I really considered just flipping to the end to find out because the story dragged so much.
