The first one was better than this one. I didn't realize that this trilogy was going to be a "Chosen One" type story as the first book had no mention of it. So I was a little surprised to see that come up now.
I was a bit annoyed that this book had a chapter that was a complete waste of time, there was a big (or what seemed like a big) event that happened, it seemed like it could affect the rest of the book. However, it did not. It was resolved and everything went back to the way it was before that chapter started. You could literally skip that chapter and you would never be left with any questions or wonder what is going on. Perhaps it is something that will come up in the third book, but if it doesn't, it was a complete waste of time.
This book was ok but seems to suffer from second book syndrome. Hopefully, the third one brings a satisfying conclusion.
