I don't care, I love Dragon Age and I loved this book. I just got some quick things to say about it. Have some point form notes on it.

1) Evangeline gets to be the second favourite ex-templar now. I loved her. I wished she was the games, but alas.

2) Holla at my ladies, Wynne and Shale, for being in this and for Shale being her absolutely fabulous self.

3) I want to give Cole all the hugs, murders and all.

4) Lord Seeker Lambert can suck on a bag of dicks.

That's it. That's all.

I liked this more than I thought I would as I'm not super interested in Cole's character. It was noticeably better written than the first 2 DA books and consistently kept my interest. Very mage heavy, and I am a mage nerd, so maybe that's it.

So far this was my favorite dragon age book. As far as pretty much everything goes, characterizations we’re better, the plot was better. I loved that this was the bridge between DA2 and Inquisition. I loved learning more about the Divine and I loved
seeing wynne AND shale again it was so fun. I love that all the OGs still kind of look out for each other.
it was the best romance as well, even if it was a bit lacking for me.
I love cole, so basically reading his origin was so much fun for me. He is truly one of the most interesting dragon age characters to exist. The questions he raises about spirits and how they come about is just *chef kiss*

I think the pacing is the number one thing Gaider struggles with. That being said, this wasn’t nearly as bad as the stolen throne in that department so honestly I’ll be forgiving on that front.

I will also say I think for ME
this book makes Vivienne’s position reprehensible. But also I did already think that. Rebellion is hard and people died and that is awful. But for me Viv’s whole position is: “well I was a good girl so the circle worked for me so I don’t see a problem”. But like what about every mage in Kirkwall who did nothing and then was just killed because a mage who wasn’t even a part of the circle blew up the chantry? And here, the first enchanters didn’t even have the chance to VOTE before the Templars attacked? And to be fair the whole Kirkwall thing, anders was crazy but Meredith was doing terrible things??? Vivienne’s position is just “we are dangerous so we should just let them imprison us to feel better” but like the bad things mages do, they’re driven to do out of self preservation 9-10 times. Idk I find Vivienne’s so frustrating and this I just me ranting on that.

Damn ok I did not think it possible after the disaster that was the first book but this one was actually really fucking good. Getting to see some of my favorite characters (Wynne and Cole) and spicy perspectives on mage & templar stuff? I’m here for it.

(Anders was right though)

Readable enough for David Gaider's writing.

We get to see Shale again! And Wynne. And Leliana. I loved seeing some of our companions from Origins. It was nice to see that this is where we learn that the Rite of Tranquility can be reversed (unless Inquisition was played before read this).
I did not like Adrian. I did like Rhys and Evangeline. And Cole!!! He seemed so different in here than in Inquisition, but I still loved him. And the ending was just chefs kiss. The Lord Seeker got what was coming to him.
