Pleasant light read for a hot summer day. It was nice to "meet" Shale again :) I'm less pleased about Wynne and Leliana, but that's because I've never really liked them.
As to other characters - Rhys was nice, if a bit undecided, Evangeline is also nice as one of the few examples of a reasonable templar. I knew Cole from the game already, and he's why I read this book.Even though I knew to expect it, it irritated me that Rhys believed Lambert that Cole is a demon and manipulated him - I fell as if it's Lambert's victory and I don't like it at all! But in my headcannon the Inquisitor, once he found out, informed Rhys of who Cole really is and how he came to be at the White Spire. And all was well ;)

While I didn't like this book as much as The Calling, it's still a remarkable window into the Dragon Age universe. After reading it, I am PUMPED for the new game. Mages, Templars, Seekers of Truth, rips in the Fade. Exciting!
Best book of the series and the true story of the start of the mage rebellion, really makes you wonder what the writers of Inquisition were thinking. The plot here is nuanced and complicated, so much better than the way the games makes it seem.

I love COLE and I love SHALE but the rest??? Meh.
uhh i'd give this a 3.5 if i could i guess. david gaider is not so great at writing as he is at creating some of the most fleshed-out characters i've ever seen. anyway, i read it for cole, really. and it was more than worth it for that.
