Good concept in theory, but neither of the main characters were interesting enough to carry a book with no plot. And I love a book with no plot. Miri in particular is very hard to root for, and her apathy toward the situation starts way too early in the narrative to be understandable. It's ultimately too much of everyone doing nothing. And the ending - the "reveal" of what Leah encountered was nowhere near frightening enough to justify having slogged through the story.

Writing style was not for me. A book that never lets you forget you're reading a book, with metaphors that often do not land or convey the feeling I imagine they're trying to.

An anticlimactic and frustrating read.

Perfection. Gloriously written devotion, loss. Cosmic horror, but through the lens of the minutiae of day-to-day.

rating this is so hard because i didn’t hate it but also didnt love it ? and some parts were so heartbreakingly and beautiful and  atmospheric while others were just boring ?? and the end made me cry but also left me with more questions than answers idk !!!

Probably closer to 3.5 stars

I don’t totally know what to make of this. It’s so different than what I normally read, and I feel like the top 5 or so reviews on here sum up exactly how I feel.

Parts of this are fascinating and engaging, parts are simply slow and dull. A lot of it was confusing, but the ending picks up quite a bit and I was really engaged. I wish there were more answers at the end however. Overall, it was a nice short book, but I wouldn’t be recommending it to most people.
