This book met and exceeded every single one of my expectations. Sloane and Xavier were delightful from the very first page, and got progressively more adorable. I’m gonna be thinking about these two for days. 💙💙 (It doesn’t hurt that they give off MAJOR Sydrian vibes, aka one of my absolute favorite fictional couples.)

The only thing that could’ve made this book better was a Kai and Isa wedding. IT WAS THE ONE THING I WANTED, ANA.

Okay, but seriously. We’ve seen Viv and Dante get married, Alé and Dom get divorced and remarried, but Kai and Isa’s wedding is off-page?? And we find out in the epilogue that said wedding was only weeks after this book’s main story ends?? RUDE. And, to top it off, we don’t even get to see Xavi and Sloane engaged. I feel denied!!! 🥲🥲

On another note, I won’t lie—I’m skeptical about the next book. I don’t know either Vuk or Ayana enough to care about them, and I feel like Vuk is such a strange choice for a lead. I knew we’d have to leave the squad eventually, given how long the series is going to be, but I just. I don’t know. I’m gonna need some convincing on this one.

One more thing. At the very end, Xavi mentions Alex discovered the saboteur’s identity but wouldn’t share it, and all we got was it’s someone from a mercenary group that’s targeting the wealthy. I’d bet my nonexistent money that it’s Roman, and we haven’t seen the last of him yet. 👀

Updated series ranking:
  1. King of Pride (forever my babies)
  2. King of Sloth (my new babies)
  3. King of Greed (good but not as good)
  4. King of Wrath (suck it Dante)

My Ana Huang holy trinity, which finally exists after this book: King of Pride, King of Sloth, Twisted Lies 💜💙💚

I’m not gonna reread, I’m not gonna reread, I’m not gonna reread……

Representation:
  • Colombian protagonist and side characters
  • Chinese side characters (one is half-Filipina)
  • demisexual Brazilian side character
  • side character with CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome)

"Who didn't like to be needed? Bring needed meant we were good at and good for something. People didn't leave those they needed.  It wasn't the same thing as being loved but it was better than nothing"

One thing to know about me is I love Twisted Games and Rhys and Bridget with my entire heart and I thought no Ana book could POSSIBLY top that however, I've now read King Of Sloth and know that is absolutely untrue.

I absolutely cannot explain to you how this book made me feel. The warm, happy feelings it has given me I haven't felt this way about a book in so long. This is now my second favourite romance of all time, I love it so deeply and so much its absolutely stolen my heart, body and soul.

"If its good enough for Prince Rhys, it's good enough for me"

Now, I'll start with Xavier because one thing Ana Hunag, Ali Hazelwood and Emily Henry are amazing at, it's writing men I actually like lol but ANYWAY. As I mentioned, Rhys is really precious to me and I didn't think anybody else would overtake and here we are. Xavier Castillo is amazing. I loved reading about him. From the very first chapter he absolutely had me charmed, I just loved that although he has this image that he showcases publicly, he is truly the most caring, warm and sweet human being. The way he wears his heart on his sleeve, the way he truly shows how much he cares about Sloane is absolutely beautiful to me. I adore him so completely, there were moments I truly wanted to curl up and cry for him especially during the section in Bogotà because it absolutely broke my heart and when he was talking about his mother, this man is just such a beautiful soul and I loved watching him develop over the course of the book it truly felt like a privilege.

"Perhaps that was why I rarely went on vacation. It lulled us into a false sense of security only to thrust us back into our regular lives, where we were confronted with a world that kept spinning without us and the realization that our presence didn’t matter at all in the grand scheme of things."

As well as Xavier, I loved Sloane so god damn much. She absolutely deserves the world and is my favourite of the women I've read about in Ana's books so far. Again,I absolutely loved watching her develop over the book and realise that it's okay to feel things, it's okay to be hurt and angry with the way people have treated her and most of all I loved watching her come to the realisation that her family and Bentley were absolutely the ones in the wrong, she did nothing wrong and that she deserved to be loved. I just love her so much, the way she sticks up for Xavier and allows him to grow into the person he needs to be as well as helping him get there. She means everything to me and was sometimes a little too relatable it cut me deep lol.

I loved the relationship between Xavier and Sloane so much, I loved the way they picked up on the small things about each other, loved that they were so supportive of each other and helped the other one do the growing they needed to do. You can truly tell how much they live each other and how happy they are god I just absolutely adore them.

Overall, if you couldn't tell, I loved this book so deeply. It was everything I absolutely wanted and needed it to be. It made me feel so happy, so much genuine, unfiltered joy that I can't explain. I'm so happy it exists. Also, loved all of the cameos they also made me the HAPPIEST.

My summary:
Sloane Kensington has built up her PR firm over the last six years through pure grit and grace. Determined to make her own name for herself after being estranged from her family, she has had to become tough and resilient and has buried herself in her work. But her most difficult client, Xavier Castillo, loves nothing more than to rile her up as often as possible. It’s been three years since Sloane was hired by Xavier’s father, the richest man in Columbia, to keep the family reputation pristine despite Xavier’s party boy lifestyle. But when his father becomes terminally ill, Xavier must face his future and choose between his inheritance or his party lifestyle. The impossible soon seems possible for Xavier with Sloane by his side as a support he’s never had before. And Sloane, who never gets emotionally affected, soon finds herself drawn to Xavier as she sees there’s more to him than just his past antics.

My thoughts:
Sloane and Xavier have my heart. I really enjoyed this and, so far, it’s my favorite of Ana Huang’s Kings of Sin series. This is an overall sweet romance with a few spicy scenes.

I enjoyed the character development of Xavier and my heart just broke for his backstory. And I’ve also really enjoyed seeing Ana Huang’s writing evolve through her books and if this one is any indication, each one to come will just keep getting better and better.

Ahhhhhh! So many cameos of the Twisted characters and other Kings of Sin characters! I love it. I saw another review that referred to it as the Marvel Infinity War of the Ana Huang-verse, and that’s quite accurate. I hope the Twisted characters keep popping up in the books to come in this series!

This is the fourth of what will be a total of seven books in the Kings of Sin series. I am excited to see Vuk and Ayana’s story in the next book. Also, make sure you get the bonus scene from this book through Ana Huang’s newsletter!
