Probably 3.5 stars for this part, but closer to four overall. And mostly because I have an unreasonable affection for the character Odd Thomas... otherwise this would barely be a 3 overall.

Koontz tries too hard to be descriptive at too many points in the story, and the climax left me underwhelmed. But it was good to spend some time with Odd again.

It's been years since I've read any Odd Thomas and he's just as endearing as I remember.

An amazing end to this terrifying trilogy. Alien monster fella was a kind of difficult to visualise because of the unique way in which it hid itself but it was still very descriptive.

The last of the trilogy of novellas and it was a wonderful read. If anyone is new to Odd Thomas I would suggest that you start with the first Odd Thomas novel and not the novellas as they do expect you to 'hit the ground running.' The trilogy was a delight for Odd Thomas fans.

Not bad...a return to his earlier work involving "reasonable extensions" of existing recombinant DNA research, coupled with the fantasy of Odd's...oddities. Better than others of his more recent works, but still wordier than he used to be. Too much inane chatter from the characters and overuse of "SAT" words, as my kids like to call them. He used to be more crisp in his writing. Also, the action was formulaic, not as intrinsically frightening as some of his earlier books, perhaps because it was, in the end, not close enough to human evil to inspire true shivers. All in all, better than some of his recent books, but not up to the level of humor of Tick Tock, the humanity of Watchers, the psychological drama of Cold Fire, or the creativity of Lightning or Twilight Eyes. I'm hoping for better from Odd Apocalypse.

At the risk of sounding repetitive while reviewing an Odd book, it's really all about the characters for me. And Odd is my favorite. Implausible and a bit wacky? Of course! But it's actually nice to have Ed around with his limitless wells of information. In fact, everything is almost too easy with Ed around. But, why not? It was good, chilling, suspenseful fun. And having Odd in the picture is always a plus.

A neatly finished episode. Overall the series was fairly lightweight page wise but assume that's because it is like a 'summer/Christmas special' to the real odd Thomas story.
