Loved this story about a young woman who has finally reached the point when she can escape from all the unwanted attention she receives from being a beautiful actress. On the night of her final performance, she disguises herself and flees to an inn where she is supposed to meet up with her friends. Instead, she runs into a group of young men who start to recognize her. Before they can approach her, she flings herself into the arms of Lucas Jennings who has recently returned from war. She addresses him as husband and begs him to go along with the charade. Lucas is weary of returning to his ancestral home and decides as a gentleman he will help this young woman find her friends and travel to a home she has inherited. He is surprised to learn that underneath her disguise, she's a stunningly beautiful woman. When the home she had pinned her hopes and dreams on turns out to be in total disrepair, Lucas takes her to his home only to introduce her as his fiancee. The two must decide whether to keep up the charade or go their separate ways.

I really enjoyed the characters and plot of this book. It was a quick read with some fun twists. Highly recommend it to those who enjoy an entertaining historical, clean romance.
