I ask for a lot of sensitivity when reading about delicate issues. For this reason, this book is a do-not-recommend for me. Reads like it was written 10 or 20 years ago.
A timely and important story about the lead up to and aftermath of a cyberbullying incident that ends with an attempted suicide. This is a story that is important for adolescents to read, and is written in a way that will be engaging for them so they will want to read it. There is a lot of emotion, drama, and family issues dealt with in this one book, but it deals with all of the repercussions of the actions and choices of the involved parties. One of the things I liked the best was that the book is told in multiple perspectives, so we have the bully and the victim (high schoolers), and then both of their younger (middle school) siblings. That choice leads to a well-rounded story and ability for the reader to see all sides of the issue. This one is a strong addition to a classroom library.
Powerful & timely story about online actions and repercussions. Should be required reading for 8th graders!
This book goes to show what the effects of bullying and cyber bullying can do to someone, it's a great story with real world issues.
So good!!!!
This book really brought forward all of the middle school/high school anxieties surrounding social media use, internet identity, and wading through the waters of growing up in an age of bullying and technology.
I read it to relate to a friend's 8th grade English class that was reading it & I found it extremely valuable for talking about the impact that bullying can have on everyone involved and those hurt indirectly.
The different perspectives and the jump back and forth on the chronological timeline helped add a layer of suspense and artsiness to the novel!
So impactful. So touching. The 8th graders were engaged, loving it, and learning about morality and consequences!

A really heart breaking view of a depressed person trying to kill herself and the effect it has on everyone else around her. Especially friends and family. It also gives you a look into cyberbullying.
