that ending makes no fucking sense. the last few sentences it seems like she changes personalities and I’m just so confused right now. does she even care about jaren? what are her motives and why? I FEEL SO DECIEVED AND ANGRY IN THE WORST WAY. like the character I’ve been reading about throughout this whole book is not actually who she is. and I’m going to be so fucking pissed if kiva has been faking how she feels about jaren and is planning to take his throne for malicious reasons. I’m also confused on her “backstory” now because what is even real anymore. I give it three stars, though, because it was really fun and I enjoyed reading it. but the more I sit and think on this book, the more angry I am because I feel like the author wrapped up the book so sloppily. It’s just so cheap.

I absolutely loved this book and the ending was one of my favourite endings in a book I have ever read. I really like how it wasn’t really complicated with a lot of characters and you got to really know each character individually. The character development was written really well and the plot was set out really well. :)

This book.. whew. It pulled me in at the start, I felt a bit confused and bored in the middle, and then I was punching the air at the end for not guessing. I’m so intrigued to see where this story goes in the next two books because this one left me confuuuused. Something about it is keeping me engaged, so let’s see where it goes…

“Death arrived at twilight” What an insane opening line to a book. My interest was immediately piqued, and it just continued to deliver over and over. Kiva was such a well written character with just the right amount of mystery to her, and a compelling backstory to make her actions make sense. I loved her character so much. The story itself kept me on the edge of my seat, and the ending had me in absolute chock, hand over my mouth and tears running. It tied the story together so well, while still making me want to get the second book right at this moment. The other characters were so fleshed out and real, and the attention to detail even in the minor characters and events were great. Tipp is my all time favorite child in any story ever, I will kill for him. My only tiny little bit of critisism is that some dialouges were a liiiiitle drawn out and had me almost getting frustrated at them for being too slow, but it only happened like twice and didn’t really bother me that much, it just keeps it from reaching that 5 star mark just slightly. It’s such a great book and I’d really recommend it.

it took me a little to get into this book but as i kept reading it got more interesting at parts
i wouldnt blame you if you said you couldnt make it through the beginning, i had felt the same but it was all just set up for the end which was crazy btw and has me very intrigued to see what happens next
like some other people said, it was hard to keep being interested in, there were many parts of the book where i thought it was extremely dragged out
im curious to see what happens next, but the curiousity wont kill me
overall the end made reading it worth, and i will read the second one, just not immediately
