Sorry to rate it so low, because I love this serie and I like the author but no, just now. The book started very well, then all came down bad. Bad bad bad. Bad characters and bad plot.
Too bad the author was more concerned to bring fastly the two to the "love" scene than to give a little more perspective, realistic taste and time to develop things.
I mean: 2 days to meet her-oh she's the one-gotta have her-should marry her? Come on...
Shame, because otherwise would have been a really great story

🎧AUDIO VERSION🎧⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ /5 performance by Adam Paul.

Had to give this series a break to get the shift of narrators out of my head. The original narrator was so much better for me. However with a serious break, I was able to cope with the change of voice. A clean and clear performance.

ARTICULATION  - clean, clear, precise
BREATHING – controlled, volume, consistent, project appropriate, relatively low mouth noise
DELIVERY – solid and in the spirit of the text and author’s intent. Timing and pacing is appropriate. Varied and not too predictable.
EYE BRAIN MOUTH CONTROL – accurate and effortless delivery.
CONSISTENT – high energy, good articulation, breath and pitch control.
ANALYSIS – understands the story arc and characters.
CHARACTERISATION – attempts to bring to life. Distinct and somewhat consistent in tone, attitude, age is somewhat confusing, but accents are fine.  Voices match characters at most times.
SEPARATION- clear and decisive performance
INVESTMENT – the emotional connection helps with visualisation.

STORYLINE 🌢️🌢️

Always love Maya Banks and the KGI Series ranks up there. Lovely hearing about the previous characters throughout this book too.  This was a lovely story but very far removed from the normal KGI β€œbad arseness.” The beginning had me hooked then it become too much of an instalove troupe. Too quick in the relationship/family development but with a little KGI magic thrown in for good measure. Also, I’m not too sure if such trained personnel would leave loaded weapons around within such easy reach when so many kids are in the story. Just  a couple of little plot issues like this throughout. In my opinion not the best story in the series, but still a good ear bud read.

Personal series rating outlined below.

It was amazing. I haven't felt like this towards a book in awhile. I haven't been disappointed in Maya Banks KGI books.

After the Storm by Maya Banks
Donovan works with his brothers who all cater to the needs of a few. The government calls on them to retrieve kidnapped people where they can't go.
Rusty Barnes Kelley has been adopted by the Kelley's and she' s grateful for being part of a large safe family.
The company would right another wrong. getting a woman out of an abused situation or relocating them to a safe place.
Rusty has hired the boy, Travis who lives with his sister, Eve and her daughter, Cammie. Van notices how thin and starving they are when he and Rusty go to visit. The house is deplorable and he tries to help them.
Love bantering with the Kelley family at gatherings. Kind of confusing to take all 6 of the brothers in with their spouses and kids but after a while you get used to them all.
Eve has her secrets and keeps them to herself to protect her brother and sister from harm.
After the tornado the brothers move in to help them out. What I like is that excitement and action knowing the father is going to find the family and want them back. We learn why they are on the run...
Love the total family connection throughout also, steamy sex scenes. Telepathic abilities enhance this book.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

I thought the first book on the series was bad… but this takes the cake. Eve is running away from an abusive controlling step father. And donavan comes in all caveman you are mine blah blah blah and suddenly they are having sex??? I got whiplash!!!! I know these books are typically rushed but based on eves history I thought it would be a little slower. Especially since her step father was so controlling… Also Van hasn’t been interested in anyone and just happens to meet Eve and is willing to throw everything away.

Couldn't help but notice the amount of reused lines in this one. But I did enjoy watching Van fall, and a new plot that wasn't as over-the-top as some of the others.
