The Kind Worth Killing has been mentioned alongside The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl in numerous different reviews, and while it does have that same sort of feel to it, I enjoyed this book much more than the other two. It wasn't perfect, but there were plenty of intriguing dark characters, twisted twists, and a surprisingly satisfying ending.

Hell yeah!

I love a thriller like this. Fast paced and keeps you rapidly turning pages.

I will admit I was floored when SPOIL MF ALERT one of the main characters is taken out quite early. My heart ached. The hopeless romantic in me was screaming in agony. Coming from someone who could not continue Dexter after they killed of Rita (seriously why the hell did they do that?) I thought I could not possibly continue on. There was no way the book could possibly be good, the plot and plan was entirely ruined.

But wait! There’s so much more! And man, I am such a sucker for a badass main character lady. I know, I know, she’s not a “good guy” but I could not help feeling for her. Gripping the edge of my seat, praying she’d be successful and make it alive.

Really really good.

Idk WHY it took me so long to read this one. It’s not that I lost interest, I guess I just wasn’t as hooked once I got about halfway through? It’s a GOOD book, with a few big “wait, WHAT!?” moments, but it’s more of a “quiet” thriller, heavy on the suspense rather than the thrill. A mystery, if you will.

It’s a bit of a slow burn, as you see the main character grow from her youth into adulthood, and the first person POV allows us to see into her psyche. You get to hear from each of the characters in their POV as well, which I liked. There were twists I didn’t see coming, and that’s my favorite thing in a thriller, but the plot just didn’t excite me as much after a while.

In any case, it’s my first Peter Swanson novel and I’ll probably pick up one of his books again. The writing was great, the pacing was great, and the characters were all unique and interesting in their own way.

Definitely a book that I’d recommend to someone just getting into the thriller genre.

The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson is a very light murder story and quick fun read!

The plot moves along quickly and has multiple turning points. The characters can be a bit sleezy at times, but it actually is used smartly to move plot forward in places instead of some odd author fantasy. Looking forward to sequel!
