This story was so interesting to me because I don’t read much about this time period. The politics and the social norms and everything was so fun. I struggled a lot with this couple though. The main conflict was a miscommunication that didn’t get resolved until about 90% through, which was endlessly frustrating. So most of my enjoyment came from the novelty of the story.

There is no point in reading this beyond 10 or so pages. The writing is of such poor quality, the characters superficial and not in a corrupt human way but in poor writerly way, I see no hope of in this book getting better.
