i am excited for the set up to the new series but sad to say goodbye to aster creek. i love that wyla made him work for it and that jett actually worked for it not because she made him but because he wanted to be with her. he waited for her and looked for her and if he had known about his daughter would have been there the whole 5 years. i loved how this book ended the series!

I loved this book so much. After reading some dark and disturbing books this was a perfect pallet cleanse with just the right amounts of spice.

Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

This might be my favorite book in the series. I knew Jett was going to be good, but I couldn’t have anticipated how good the story was going to be. Secret baby/child and love at first sight are not usually tropes I go for but Mollie perfected these in this book. I loved every bit of the story, and the flashbacks were perfect.
I also loved the representation of pregnancy, infertility, and loss. I may have bawled my eyes out, but it was so perfectly handled.

Honest Tea: I was being a Judgy McJudges-A-Lot and was going to write off the book after the first chapter or so, for having some extreme characters & circumstances; Jett was feeling like a Stage 5 Clinger.

I was wrong (and SO GLAD I WAS!). This is like one of those Willy Wonka candies that develops different flavors, the more you continue to chew and I told myself I would make it up to the author with a good review. So Mollie, I hope I'm forgiven....

Jett & Wyla. ONS. Miscommunication ensues; they both want more but don't say anything & go their separate ways. Until Wy finds out his swimmers have knocked a bun into her oven but she has no way of tracking him down. Fast forward - 5 yrs later - Jett shows up to their daughter's birthday party as a guest (he's Wy's friend's brother) & the story starts to gallop as they figure it out.

Reasons to Read:

Numero Uno - I like Wyla. A lot. And I've had my share of FMCs (or even MCs) which annoy me. She's consistent, strong, independent, is honest about her martyr tendencies & is out there momming it hard. A true test for me is if - by the end of the book - any of her actions/thoughts/decisions surprise me (and they didn't). It's just testament to the author's character building abilities.

Numero Dos - the dual POV is really enmeshed and isn't just 2 seperate narratives. So you see the same situation from different stances. Mollie talks about it in her socials but it's that much more impactful when you read it. He is picking up what she is putting down & vice versa. It just makes them feel that much more destined and as a reader, you really believe in how much they are meant to be - especially when you have some pretty unbelievable circumstances that have kept them apart.

Numero Tres - the banter is really good. I'm a sucker for smart banter because I think it's the cornerstone of how well the MCs fit each other. It's funny, entertaining, and you start getting pulled into Jett & Wyla's sexual tension orbit

Another sneaky reason (because I was trying to keep myself to 3) - the writing is good. Coupla tension filled moments when I actually did feel the butterflies, like when Jett rocks up to the party and is about to find out his plus one from 5 yrs ago, had a plus one...

Rounding out the candy analogy, this was a really sweet read with just the right amount of spice. I recommend.
