4.5/5! i read this one in one sitting at work again. legal thriller, and you can tell the author has EXPERIENCE in the courtroom. the ending had me shocked, had my mouth open a few times during this...do i think it may have been a tinyyy bit realistic and too much of a conflict of interest? yes, but it made it all the more entertaining. great debut, i hope we see another from the author

It had been a while since I had read a legal thriller, so I was excited to pick this one up! The story follows a former president that is accused of killing his mistress. He hires his childhood best friend, Rob, who is a formidable DC lawyer, to take his case.
This was such an interesting and juicy read. There were so many secrets revealed, and it was hard to predict what was going to happen next. The courtroom scenes were fantastic which makes sense because the author is an acclaimed trail litigator. His experience clearly added to how riveting the story was.
The ending came as a shock to me which I always enjoy with a thriller. Overall, this was a really solid debut, and I look forward to seeing what else Robbins writes.
