Given my love for giraffes, I was really excited for this book. I felt it often dragged on and it didn't keep my attention most times.

What a sweet story of 2 men who travel to bring 2 hurrican giraffes to the San Diego Zoo!
This was a fascinating historical fiction novel with really likeable (and dislikable) characters It's hard to imagine that 2 giraffes truly traveled cross country in crates through the dustbowl and other challenges.
Based on historical events, this fictional account of the transfer of Lofty and Patches, two giraffes, from New York City to the San Diego Zoo, is an incredibly engaging and touching story. Highly recommended!
