Wow, that sure was... something.
As far as thrillers go, I have a very mixed relationship with them, and typically rate them around 3 stars. But my hopes were high for Gillian Flynn, she's always praised as being one of the best thriller writers, so I expected to be "wowed" more than I was. The story was interesting, I'm a sucker for murder mysteries, but the twists were really predictable. I know that the protagonist isn't supposed to be super likable, but that doesn't mean I have to write off all of her questionable and even downright stupid decisions. Anyone with half a braincell would've left town immediately after "certain events" (no spoilers).
Overall a decent read, with some disturbing content, and a (slightly) lackluster ending. I am curious about the mini series on HBO though, might give it a watch for spooky season.

Horrifying. But in all the good ways. I'm glad this is the last Gillian Flynn book I read; I don't think I had it in me to read anything else she'd written for a while, after Sharp Objects.
