Although this second book was a lot more intense as far as violence, drama (romantic back and forth) and emotions go, I still really enjoyed the story and the world. I’m happy about the ending

Xingyin is at home with her mother, who is safe. However, it doesn’t take long for Xingyin to be on the move again after discovering a secret and trying to save another member of her family. In the meantime Xingyin is also struggling to get over Wenzhi’s deception and lies, as well as breaking things off with Liwei after his mother makes a deal with Xingyin. As the story builds towards an epic finale, we see Xingyin grow and flourish in her role as a protector, warrior and leader.

This review was hard to write without giving things away, but I really enjoyed this follow up, reading it in less than a day because I had to know how it ended! Xingyin is a hero and the best of humanity, in my opinion. She was truly an amazing main character to read about these last two books. Now on to the novella!

I can't enjoy this book as much as I enjoy the first one. The plot is dragging, there are so many fillers that I don't think necessary. The character development of the female lead is zero. The love triangle is making me mad. Just should've leave Wenzhi alone, he deserves so much better than a fickle heart. The magical aspects is somewhat not as impactful as the first one.
