A bit unrealistic, and yet, I couldn't stop reading.

Jane Sparks could be described as boring, safe, and prim. If the thoughts that crossed her mind played out she would be anything but. When she meets Bad Boy Duke Austen in an embarrassing way,s he figures she can cut her losses it's not like she will ever see her again. That is until a joking roommate updates her facebook status and she finds herself engaged (pretend) to none other than Duke.

Fun quick read, Jane is trying to get over being dumped by the love of her life. Duke needs to show he is everything he is not, that is why he needs Jane. Wallflower meets badboy and everything is about to get shaken up. If your looking for a sassy fun, this a book for you.

Please note this is a Cliffhanger. I hate cliffhangers and I am usually good about not reading them until all parts have been released but I got so caught up in the blurb I forgot to look. I really enjoyed the story so far and am looking forward to reading what comes next.

Had I known this was a story being told in three novellas, and installment series if you will, I would have waited to read this one until they were all complete and read them in a single go. Frustrating to say the least. Installment stories are simply not my cup of tea. That having been said, the premise was a good one and a nice counterpoint to the historical version by the same author. The grasp of San Francisco startup culture, technology, and investment culture is really stunningly spot on. And the javascript is good too. I'll wait until the installments are done before continuing to read though.

4 Pretending but Falling in Love Stars
“It’s not real, Jane.
It doesn’t mean anything, Jane.
Two words, Jane: Cubic Zirconia.”

This first installment of a three part series is the modern day version of The Wicked Wallflower.

Jane Sparks was jilted six months ago for being a good girl. The humiliation of being jilted Jane motivated her to move from her hometown in Pennsylvania to New York City. She is now an assistant Librarian at The New York Public Library. She wears sweater sets, dresses from J-Crew and pearls. Jane desperately needs to break out of her “good girl” image. She gets the perfect opportunity when she meets Duke Austen, the Bad Boy Billionaire at a Hush Party held at the library. She follows him into the Stacks where after an embarrassing meeting she ends up pressed against the bookshelves getting the kiss to end all kisses. Unfortunately a phone calls interrupts their kiss and it all comes to a quick end. Until…

At lunch following day with her best friend Roxanne, while moaning about having to go to her upcoming high school reunion and seeing her ex, Sam’s, dating history on Facebook, Roxanne helps her out by unsubscribing her from Sam’s status updates. But while on Jane’s Facebook page, Roxanne finds a friend request from Duke Austen, gets all excited and helps Jane out by she updating her Facebook page with:

“Jane Sparks and Duke Austen got engaged”

And of course, she tags Duke.

Duke is a genius who started and lost two profitable start-up companies because he likes to party too much. His reputation hinders him when he tries to sign on investors for his newest idea. He needs to change his image and do it fast. So when he sees Jane’s Facebook update, he grabs it for what it is; a golden opportunity to show his prospective investors that he has changed. He convinces Jane to play his fiancée for a weekend so he can win the investors over. In exchange, he will go to her high school reunion with her as her fiancé. However, their weekend turns into a lot more than they expected and now, they are both unsure where they stand with each other.

Silly and fun are what this book is. It truly is taking the plot of The Wicked Wallflower and tossing it into modern-day New York City. All the fun geek sites are mentioned, and NYC and the Social Media sites are the perfect backdrop for this fast paced story of a fake relationship played out on the internet.

I totally enjoyed reading this first part of the trilogy and cannot wait to see how it all plays out! A definite Must Read!

I have to admit.. I did like this. More than I thought I would.
It's not that it's any thing new or surprising.. NOPE it's your typical cliche lets do a pretend relations ship romance. BUT this is well written. So well written that I was dismayed for it to finish, upset that I am gonna have to wait another month for the next installment.
I picked this up because a friend said it was good fun and I had little time at hand and felt like cute&fluffy. Boy was I in for a surprise, this is not only well written, it's witty, the character building is alright and the smut... well it's good. Rodale had me hooked and I want more than just 100pages.
This is a companion story to the regency series by Rodale. To be honest I doubt that I will read the main series. I love the idea of the two interconnecting series, it's very clever. And I am so definitely going to read the next installment for this one.

What a great idea for a story! The idea sucked me in and Maya delivered with the characters.
Jane is a plain jane, librarian by day and romance author by night, or at least that's what the people she went to high school with think. Her life is plain and boring but she wishes she could change that. Jane doesn't want to be the wallflower any more, she wants to take risks and feel passion in her life.
Duke is the bad boy billionaire, at least that's what he's labeled since his first 2 startup companies tanked. If he can get his act together for this deal he would not only be a billionaire on paper but in the real world as well.
One chance meeting at a party in the library, one drunk status update by Jane's friend, and now they are engaged to be married. Duke the bad boy and Jane the wallflower, can they pass the fauxmance test? Will Jane lose her heart to Duke?

Cliffhanger run away

Really the word cliff hanger says it all. It really defeats the point of a romance novel. Three more words.

The Bad Boy Billionaire's Wicked Arrangement by Maya Rodale is a December 2013 Avon Impulse publication. I received a copy of this book from the publisher and Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
Jane is a librarian and aspiring author. She has been the plain vanilla type that never took many risk and certainly was not riske'. Then she meets Duke, a tech billionaire trying to launch a new company after two previous failures. He needs to clean up his reputation as a hard partying ladies man. Jane would be the perfect woman to latch onto until this start up company gets over the first initial hurdle.
Within a blink of an eye, Jane finds herself engaged to Duke through twitter, Facebook and every other social media site there is. Her mind is always reminding her that this is just temporary and not a real engagement. Her body and her heart are telling her something else.

This novella is the first installment in the Bad Boy Billionaire series. This is a contemporary version of the historical romance " The Wicked Wallflower". I loved it! What a great idea. Jane finally steps outside her comfort zone and takes a huge risk . But what about Duke? He seems to really like Jane, but as we wait for the next installment, we are left to wonder just what Duke is up to.
This novella is well written, funny and nails the use of social media in our lives. I can't wait for the next book!
This one gets an A!
