"Co-owner of the town's only kennel, Lilah Young has lived in Sunshine, Idaho, all her life. Pilot-for-hire Brady Miller is just passing through. But he soon has Lilah abandoning her instincts and giving in to a primal desire.

It's Brady's nature to resist being tied down, but there's something about Lilah and her menagerie that keeps him coming back for more."

Animal Magnetism was an okay romance...I could not get "close" to the characters and it seemed a bit longer than it needed to be. I will continue the series.

Animal Magnetism
3.5 Stars (4 with the animals)

Synopsis
Ex-military turned pilot for hire, Brady Miller has always been a love 'em and leave 'em type until he comes to Sunshine Idaho to visit his foster brothers and encounters Lilah Young, the local kennel owner who suddenly has him questioning his choices in life.

Review
Great characters, cute animals and an intense romance but no plot to speak of.

Although Brady and Lilah have smoldering chemistry and excellent banter, their romance is predictable - at least there are no silly misunderstandings or unnecessary angst.

Lilah is an endearing heroine with her love for animals and difficulty accepting help from others. However, while I understand her attachment to the animals that she rescues, her reactions to giving them away to loving homes is definitely over the top.

Brady is a sexy, ex-military pilot with an adrenaline addiction but he is obviously at a crossroads and looking for a place to belong. Seeing him struggle with his growing feelings for Lilah is one of the best aspects of the book.

The small town dynamics are great and the secondary characters very engaging although their quirkiness quota could have been a tad higher.

Overall, a light and easy read that will have you smiling at the animal antics (which garner this an extra 0.5 star). Dell and Jade's books is next and there is obviously something very intriguing going on with them - love their snarky sarcasm.

I am a sucker for the HEA and really enjoyed this book. Probably closer to a 4.5 star for me.

The characters in a book are what typically do it for me - if they are interesting and I want to know more about them, I tend to enjoy the story. This one is no different. I don't think there was one character here that I didn't like. Adam, Dell and Brady...yikes. If I need to move to find guys like this, just tell me where to go. All have their issues but they all care for and love each other. Also, who can pass up a guy who cares for animals?? Lilah was the right mix of tough and not so tough. She too had her baggage but she was a believable character.

I have a number of raving reviews in my update feed on the other Shalvis books and I have to say, my friends are right. Great story, great characters - go read it.

Listened for Fun (Audible Purchase)
Overall Rating: 4.50
Story Rating: 4.50
Character Rating: 4.50

Audio Rating: 4.50 (Karen White did a great job)

I am closing out the year with just some fun reads that won't get reviewed in my normal fashion. However, I need to say that what people are saying about this series is so very true: Fun, Romantic, and HAWT! This was just an enjoyable listen all around :)

Listened to the audiobook, which was read by Karen White (the narrator for all the books by Julie James). Karen, as always, did a WONDERFUL job. I really liked Lilah and Brady and their road to happily ever after--there were some really touching moments between them that almost made me tear up. There are a lot of animals in this book and they added to the cuteness. Overall, a fantastic contemporary romance.

I listened to this book after reading Animal Attraction (book 2) and Rescue My Heart (book 3) and it's great to sort of go back and "see" Dell and Adam before they found their HEA. But all books in the series can be read as a stand alone.

I actually read this series in reverse order and liked this book as much as the second. Love the animal aspect and the funny dialogue. This is one of my new favorite series.

Shalvis's strength is her character-driven stories. Unfortunately, this book had no plot. There was no mystery, no conflict to resolve. The characters meet in scene 1, spend the book getting it on and pretending it's short term, and then (spoilers!) decide not to break up at the end after all. In the background, she studies and takes care of animals while he fixes a helicopter and adopts a dog. NOTHING HAPPENS. The end.

1.5 stars. I almost finished it, but I ran out of time on the digital checkout.

I REALLY enjoyed this! ANIMAL MAGNETISM is the perfect blend of wit and charm with plenty of face fanning romance. If you love animals and have a soft spot for swoon worthy heroes, then be sure to check this one out. This was my first Jill Shalvis book but it won't be my last!

Gone Pecan

It’s Brady’s nature to resist being tied down, but there’s something about Lilah and her menagerie that keeps him coming back for more.

Brady, an army vet who’s served overseas, now works as a pilot for hire, going all over. He likes being on the move. He doesn’t like being tied down. When his foster brothers, Dell and Adam, ask him to come to Sunshine to take a look at a helicopter they need to have fixed to use in their business, Brady takes the opportunity for a little time off. His first day back, he meets little miss Lilah as she hits his truck with her jeep. Oops. Sparks fly.

Lilah is the type of person who keeps things, like her old boyfriends who still orbit her, and the lost or abandoned animals she rescues. Brady, former foster child, keeps nothing and doesn’t like to be kept. They both have their issues but they have an attraction to each other that is undeniable and unavoidable.

I love to see a hero fall hard for someone when it’s the last thing he wants. The minute they start to think that she’s different from every other woman, you know it’s just a matter of time. What’s even better is when he starts to do things that are out of character just to be closer to the heroine. I am a sucker for an alpha male who thinks he makes the rules falling for someone who he cannot bend to his will. Lilah and Brady are this couple. They were funny and sweet and hot.

I am twiddling my thumbs anxiously awaiting the second book in the series, Animal Attraction, about Dell and Jade. The little glimpses we’ve seen of them in this book really whet my appetite. Once again, Jill Shalvis has made an irrestible hero and a strong heroine.
