Indian historical fiction is one of my favorite genres now, it is great to read about people whom you have studied about. This one tells the story of Ilango Adigal, the author of Silapathikaram. I read Kannaki's story first in Amar Chitra Katha and I still remember few of the illustrations. This is not an actual retelling of the story, but a reimanging of how the story came about
After the first few chapters it was hard to put it down, so brilliant narrative. One star less because I felt the ending felt abrupt and incomplete. I had many unanswered questions at the end. I would have loved to know the backstory of some of the secondary characters.
