This book was great for the first few chapters and then only went downhill. The writing was bland and the chapters about hockey were repetitive. It didn't help that I didn't like the book but also had to read it for school. An important story with a mediocre execution. I would recommend the movie to this.

Below average. The "twist" about a certain father was foreshadowed very poorly. Nothing deep, no real message to think about. Just, "follow your heart" and "racism is bad." *Yawn*

A very strong, quick read about growing up as a native person not too long ago, being forced to go to residential schools. I was afraid this would be a very hard-hitting book, but it's very mild, though horrible things that happened were mentioned. Very inspirational, beautiful story.

Just ripped apart and empty. That is how this book made me feel. I laughed and cried and was madder and felt more betrayed than I have ever been by a book-but that was the point, wasn't it? This is my first Wagamese book-but I intend to read whatever I can get my hands on.
